The courses of the "MSc in Medical and Surgical Retina Modern Approaches" take place at the 1st University Department of Ophthalmology, housed at the "G. Gennimatas" General Hospital of Athens, and at the 2nd University Department of Ophthalmology, housed at Attikon University Hospital. Both departments meet the teaching and research needs of the field of Ophthalmology through their modern educational facilities.
In detail, they offer the Programme's postgraduate students access to the following units for clinical and research studies:
The central Amphitheatre 1 of the "G. Gennimatas" General Hospital of Athens is used for lectures, seminars, presentations, ceremonies, award events and exhibitions. It seats 100 and is equipped with modern audiovisual equipment, including a video projector, a computer, wired and wireless internet access, a sound and microphone system, air conditioning, and natural and artificial lighting.
The Programme's activities are also served by Amphitheatre 2 of the "G. Gennimatas" General Hospital of Athens, which seats 50 and has the same modern audiovisual equipment.
Students of the Programme can receive clinical training:
The Library of the School of Medicine provides access to an archive of scientific journals and textbooks and maintains subscriptions in print and electronic form. Direct access to the Library's services supports the study and research activity of postgraduate students.
The fully equipped and furnished Programme Office is a permanent meeting place for students, teaching staff and the Programme Secretariat. It gives postgraduate students direct access to useful educational material and direct assistance with student matters (e.g. certificates of study, transcripts of grades).
The Programme Office provides access to a computer, wireless and wired internet, a multifunction device (printer/scanner/copier/fax) and video-conferencing facilities. Software available at the Office includes MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), SPSS and the TURNITIN plagiarism detection software, among others.
Students who choose to carry out a research-based Master's thesis can do so at the 1st and 2nd University Departments of Ophthalmology of NKUA. The Programme Office provides access to a computer on which patient records are archived, as material for research theses.
The above facilities are a key factor in the smooth operation of the Programme and in the quality of the educational services provided to postgraduate students.
