MSc "Medical and Surgical Retina Modern Approaches"

DURATION OF STUDIES

The duration of studies in the Programme leading to the award of the Postgraduate Diploma (Master's degree) is set at four (4) academic semesters, including the time required to complete the Master's thesis.

Extension

An extension may be granted following a reasoned application by the student and approval by the Assembly of the School of Medicine. The extension may not exceed two (2) academic semesters. The maximum permitted period for completing the studies is therefore six (6) academic semesters.

Suspension of studies

Students who have not exceeded the maximum period of study may, following a reasoned application to the Assembly of the School of Medicine, suspend their studies for a period not exceeding two (2) consecutive semesters. Suspension is granted for serious reasons (military service, illness, maternity, absence abroad, etc.). The application must be reasoned and accompanied by all relevant supporting documents from competent public authorities or organisations proving the reasons for the suspension.

Student status is suspended for the duration of the interruption, and participation in any educational activity is not permitted. Semesters of suspension are not counted towards the maximum normal duration of studies.

At least two weeks before the end of the suspension, the student must re-register in the Programme in order to continue their studies with the rights and obligations of an active student.

Students may apply to end their suspension and return to the Programme only if they have been granted a suspension for two consecutive academic semesters. The application to end the suspension must be submitted no later than two weeks before the start of the second semester of the suspension.

The duration of a suspension or extension is discussed and approved on a case-by-case basis by the Coordinating Committee, which makes a recommendation to the Assembly of the School of Medicine.
