Students are selected in accordance with the legislation in force and the provisions of the Programme's Postgraduate Studies Regulation.

Every May, by decision of the Assembly of the NKUA School of Medicine, a call for the admission of postgraduate students to the Programme is published on the Programme's and the University's websites. Applications, together with the required documents, are submitted to the Programme Secretariat by the deadline set in the call, which may be extended by decision of the School Assembly.

The required documents are:

  • Scientific publications, if any
  • Proof of professional or research activity, if any
  • Greek language certificate, or adequate knowledge of Greek as assessed by the Coordinating Committee, for foreign applicants

Selection is based on the following criteria:

The Coordinating Committee (CC) is responsible for: a) checking that application files are complete, and b) assessing the candidates and ranking them in order of merit. Based on all the criteria, the CC draws up the ranking list of candidates and submits it for approval to the General Assembly of the School of Medicine.

Successful candidates must register with the Programme Secretariat within fifteen (15) days of the Assembly's decision.

In the event of a tie, candidates with equal scores are admitted as supernumerary students, up to 10% of the maximum number of students admitted.

If one or more successful candidates do not register, the runners-up, if any, will be invited to register in the order of the approved ranking list.
